Okay I'm supposed to be singing for about an hour at a local festival here. And tho I'm a sorta shy person in ways; I actually was happy as a clam to
have a solo set- just get to do what I want and relax with the cosy audience. (it's an outside gig, well attended but not too large)
SO this...person I know seems to have invited themself AND their spouse to sing along, I'm not sure exactly how it happened as they keep inviting ME to sing and I'm usually busy and then I feel obligated so maybe I even asked THEM without quite wanting to but they're always....around ya know? and couldn't get out of it and THEN I decided, well I may as well ask a very good friend and singer I haven't seen for awhile to help me on a coupla songs. And I didn't even expect him to make it b/c he's usually busy but he was happy to come and I was happy to have him on only one or two songs - but then he said, how come I'm leaving so and so out, who is a mutual friend and superb musician, and so I invited HIM for a coupla songs, and then remembered that two other people I know know these people and I don't want to slight them so I invited them for a coupla songs; and it's not that I mind, everyone I invited is far better musically than I (except those first two who go themselves invited I'm still not sure exactly why or when) but now I have like half a dozen people coming for what was supposed to be a quiet little solo set. Not that I'm complaining , I'm thrilled to have such talented friends but....I was planning on singing alone ya know....and I'm sorta wondering... HOW DO THESE THINGS HAPPEN???? |

Snowball effect. That's what happens when you're a social butterfly, Lens
That's awesome you're able to do that, Lens - I have stage fright. My voice isn't very good either - I can carry a tune but I wouldn't want to share my mediocre voice with an audience I might do okay as a backup singer - that would be fun |

so TRACES ... go join LENSY as a backup singer !!! she won't mind ... SEEEE !!! that's how it happens ... why not let ALL those people you invited, show up and sing together ... while YOU set up another gig cross-town ... and do your solo !!! i'm with TRACES ... i could never do that ... not even as backup !!! |

Hubby likes to sing, but not professionally. I have stage fright, though.

You're ALL invited to sing along with me next time !
It turned out it worked out FINE!!! In fact it was better than fine- it was great
All those people 'buoyed me' so I sounded better than I woulda alone. And having friends show up to hear me was the icing on the cake. btw traces it is very flattering for you to call me a social butterfly b/c I am really shy by nature. I think just meeting the right people draws me out . Folks who are kind and funny and welcoming - like you all here at npn
I used to have stage fright - have sung since I 'm knee high to a caterpillar but just started performing the last few years. Did it for the song. So traces! puzz! debsy!!!! help me out with next week's gig "DO a deer...a female deer..... |

your back up singer.
(Just for clarification, the chances are VERY SLIM that we'll be on the other side of the US anytime soon) |

Eek! Day 4 - Again, I put the postage paid magazine subscription postcard in the mailbox and put the flag up. I don't get why the postperson wrote /10 on
it and keeps leaving it in the box. It's U.S POSTAGE PAID dammit!
